Meet My Assistant Eppie!

While working at home definitely has it's privileges like being around family, not having to get dressed up for work, and getting a quick snuggle from my son whenever I want, it has it's challenges.

There's no coming home from work and leaving it all at the office.  My home is my office and my office is my home.  The lines are totally blurred.  But as challenging as it may be, that's the way, uh huh uh huh, I like it.

I do have a pretty sweet home office set up with a really nice desk with tons of drawers, shelves, and file space and a nice desktop PC.  But let's be real.  I do just about 99.9% of my work from my MacBook and it's usually from my living room couch or in the kitchen and sometimes, I confess, from the snuggly goodness that is my bed.

So when I want to print something, like a consulting agreement, a non-disclosure, a video release form, or a tax form, the last thing I want to do is get up, hook my MacBook to the printer, wait for it to print, sign it, scan it, send it, and then unhook my MacBook again.  Same with photos.  I used to print photos by emailing them to myself so I could grab them from the desktop and then print them to a seperate photo printer.

But now that I have my trusty assistant Eppie I don't stress anymore.  Now when I want something printed I simply tell Eppie to print and if I want it in color or black and white and she's ready and waiting with my printout.  Eppie even prints out photos and documents one right after another seamlessly, like magic.  In fact, I might even convince Eppie to do my holiday cards for me this year, customized with a photo and personal message because she's just so cool like that.

The best thing about Eppie?  She can be your personal assistant too.  Just check out her resume here and she can start within days.

My assistant needs some love or something because it rarely works correctly. I've seen this one before and I bet it's nice. I had an Epson previously to this one and I loved it. The print quality is nice.

I'm glad I'm not the only that blogs, etc from my bed:)

That looks awesome! Now if they could only put an alarm on the paper tray to deter my kids from taking all of my paper to color on, I'd be totally sold.

Fabulous! That's one of the bonuses of working from home, is working all around the house. I love that too! Especially when you don't feel so well, and you can prop yourself up on the bed and at least feel like the day isn't a total waste. ;)
And yay for wifi/wireless! I must go check out that printer... mine is not wifi capable *sigh*...
Enjoy your new found freedom! :)

Ms. Eppie makes a great teacher's assistant, too... She prints out some great lined paper and coloring pages, and I don't even have to ask her twice!

As I read through your post, I couldn't help but wonder ... why not set up your home network so that you can print to your printer attached to the desktop PC while on your Mac laptop? Our network is set up this way, and it works fine. I print from my Mac all the time.

I understand the love for Eppie. I truly do - I have an Eppie as well. But there are free options...
