Christmas Cookie Party with the Family
My belly is full after a Christmas cookie making party today with my family. I'm the oldest of about 13 cousins that all get together at the holidays. Today we made Christmas cookies from my late "Manay's" recipes. "Manay" was my step-grandmother and she passed away this year, so this is our first Christmas without her. She loved the holidays and would make Christmas cookies every year for everyone - family, friends, and even the post office, pharmacy, and grocery store back in the day.

Today I'm going to share our experience today as we celebrated Manay and a few of her recipes too.
Frosting the Melting Moments
Cream 1 cup soft butter.
Gradually beat in 1/3 cup powdered sugar.
Add ¾ cup cornstarch and 1 cup flour.
Mix well.
Chill 1 hour.
Form 36 small irregular heaps on ungreased cookie sheet.
Bake at 350 until light brown on bottom – about 15 minutes.
Cool. Frost (can be frozen when frosting).
Frosting:
2 T melted butter
1 cup powdered sugar
1 t. flavor with enough light cream to spread on top of cookie.
Finishing the Potato Chip Cookies

Stir in flour. Form small balls.
Place on ungreased cookie sheet. Press balls flat with bottom of jar dipped in colored sugar. Top with a pecan or ½ of a candied cherry.
Bake at 350 for 16 – 18 minutes (or until lightly browned).
Packaging Up the Icebox Cookies
Ice box Cookies (Dabbie’s)
1 cup butter
2 eggs

1 cup brown sugar
1 t. baking soda in a little water
1 cup nuts
Cinnamon
1 t. vanilla

Make in rolls. Chill. Slice thin and bake - 350.
If you try any of these recipes, please let me know. They all turned out delicious and every family within our family each brought cookie dough ready to make and decorate.
