Read More: Day 1 of 15 Days of New Years Resolutions
With preschool, favorite toys, my jobs, hubs' jobs, and just trying to cram everything we need to do into the allotted twenty-four hours we get each day, sometimes it's hard to find time to read.
So, to ease us in to the 15 Days of New Years Resolutions, we'll start with:
For me, accomplishing this is two pronged: having the material and having the time.
My suggestions for accomplishing this? Turn off the TV an hour earlier every night, set aside a time each night to read as a family and make it a daily ritual, and read about subjects you are passionate about.
Need some inspiration?
Favorite Novels I read in 2008:
Gods in Alabama
(Thanks Tara!), Goodnight Nobody: A Novel
, All We Ever Wanted Was Everything
, Testimony, The Beach House
, American Wife
.
I read all of these books on my Amazon Kindle
and credit this little device with my increase in reading this past year. The price tag is a bit steep, but I've found that I've saved enough money on bestsellers already (Kindle versions are $9.99 for most). Plus, Kindle users can download a sample of a book before purchasing it, this has been extremely helpful when reading parenting and business books.
Favorite Ways to Enjoy Blogs:
While I have Google Reader for reading my favorite blogs, I've found that Twitter is a great way to keep up to date with my favorite blog posts, too. I also enjoy checking out the blogs of people that comment on my blog too. And with BlogRovr, Bloglines, and Feedly among the feed reader options out there, there's no reason we should be enjoying each others' blogs!
Favorite Magazines:
I used to get a lot more magazines before life got busy. But I still have a few favorites that include People (my mother-in-law gets me a subscription for Christmas every year, Martha Stewart Living, and Shape. My son, who is 3, loves getting mail so we ordered him a subscription to Tessy & Tab for Christmas this year. Other great kids magazines are Zoobooks, Jack and Jill, and Turtle.
Speaking of magazines and giving them as gifts...I've got a great giveaway today to kick off our 15 Days of New Years Resolutions!
I've got two Giftscriptions to give away! Giftscriptions
are a great way to give the gift of a magazine to someone. With 50 magazines to choose from and the great price of $19.99, you can't go wrong with this gift. They can be ordered online or found at popular retailers like Barnes & Noble, Books-A-Million, and Borders Books. Giftscriptions gave me one to experience and I chose a year's subscription to Martha Stewart Living with mine.
So what do you have to do to win one of the of the two Giftscriptions? Share the following in the comments
section:
I will do a random drawing tomorrow evening, (Wednesday, December 17) at 10pm from all entries and declare two winners.
Good luck and happy reading!

I would most likely give away the Gift subscription...only because I am trying to minimize the clutter in my life. Favorite magazines are "O", Brain Child, and Domino. Books...I am on the last of the Twilight series which was really good...not feeling the last one as much as the first three. I also enjoyed A New Earth. I cannot pick a favorite blog...have so many that I love to read (yours included) in my Google Reader.

What a great idea! I would use the mag sub for myself. I just love mags like people, intouch, etc...
I would probably give the magazine subscriptions as a gift...
As for favorite blog, I don't have one, but the blog I have been following the longest is Boudicca's Voice- since 2004.

you still have time to watch tv and read? amazing!! I haven't done either (except blog reading) since i launched my blog in October! Needless to say I'm really missing law and order and I haven't read a national geographic in ages. i love the idea of family reading, hubbys family grew up doing it and he and siblings all still have a passion for reading. we'll have to start that tradition right after big breakfast on sat. mornings.
I would give one suscription to hubby to renew national geographic and keep one for me, get a nice glossy food mag, yum! favorite blog? I have two, freebies4mom and lifeasmom, don't use a blog reader, but maybe I should.

I would probably give it as a gift.
I used Bloglines for a long time, but recently switched to Google Reader. As far as favorite books, I love Jane Austen and read all but one of hers this year. I used to never read non-fiction, but I'm so into photography, Photoshop, and Lightroom that I read lots of the Scott Kelby book (Digital Photography Book vol. 1 & 2, Photoshop CS3 Book for Digital Photographers, Lightroom 2 Book for Digital Photographers, etc.). A fave this year was Joe McNally's The Moment it Clicks. Favorite magazines are Photoshop User, The Old Schoolhouse, and Layers Magazine (need a subscription to that one).
Dawn @ My Home Sweet Homes last blog post..http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/MyHomeSweetHome/~3/487204458/" rel="nofollow">Wordless Wednesday: Birthday Girls!
I would probably give this as a gift since I've ordered my subscriptions already.
My fave mag is probably All You. Many tips plus great coupons.
My fave book is ...hmmm..."90 Minutes in Heaven."
My fave blog - there are way too many for me to list just one! New ones pop up everyday too.
I would give this gift subscription to my husband so he could get his "Sporting News" magazine. He knows that every other Friday it's going to be in the mailbox and I know his current subscription expires in February.
My favorite book is "Infected" by Scott Sigler
My favorite magazine is "Cemetery Dance" (a magazine about writers of horror with articles and short stories)
My favorite blog varies but currently I like "The Ben Spark"
My favorite reader is Google Reader.
It seems difficult to find the time to actually sit down and read; I always feel like I should be doing something else..
