Fight the Frump: Day 4 of 15 Days of New Years Resolutions

Probably the most common New Years Resolution is to diet and lose weight.  This year I'm calling it Fight the Frump because I don't think the focus should be on just losing weight.  It should be about having confidence, introducing a little more glamour and fashion into our lives, and looking healthy because we're living a healthy lifestyle.

This year my goal is to rock a bikini at the beach (same Resolution as last year) and to look fab for my 15th high school reunion.

I've got my game plan ready to go and I hope you'll join me so we can motivate each other.

READY?

First, I subscribed to SELF magazine. I always thought it was just a fitness magazine but it covers being your best whole self.  Once subscribed, I signed up for their tip-a-day program, "The SELF Jump Start Diet".  I read up on the program in the magazine and this is not about limiting yourself to grapefruit and dry toast.  It's about exercising more and being more healthy.  SELF also has an active online community...if enough of my readers decide to take on the challenge, I'll create a group just for us! (And it looks like, at time of this posting, if you order using the link above, you'll save $5, making it only $7 for a full year!)

Second, I bought a copy of Jillian Michaels' (Biggest Loser trainer) Jillian Michaels - 30 Day Shred. However, she's also working with SELF's 30-Day program so you might not need both.  The workout is only 20 minutes long and according to the reviews it is pretty intense.

Third, to keep myself on track I'm going to use a DaysAgo Timer to monitor the last time I exercised.  This handy timer will live on my fridge and will let me know the last time I exercised.  So, instead of timing how long, it will time how long it's been...making me keenly aware of whether I'm slacking off or not.

Finally, I've decided to incorporate Kellogg's Special K products into my plan.  Kellogg's sent me an entire box of their protein bars, Bliss bars (as a chocolate lover these are my favorite), a variety of Special K cereals, and their on-the-go products as well.  As a busy mom, this will make it a whole lot easier to make good eating choices, even when I'm pressed for time.  Unlike some of the other options out there (like SlimFast) their products actually taste good!

OK, who's going to take the plunge with me?

Need an incentive?  I'm so hoping you say yes because I've got an awesome giveaway today!

One lucky winner will receive a gift basket from Kellogg's.  This basket will include a variety of Special K products that will help the winner get on track and stay on track with their fight-the-frump goals.  Aside from the below Special K products, the basket will also include some small fitness-oriented items.

- Special K Red Berries Cereal

- Special K Chocolatey Delight cereal

- Special K Cinnamon Pecan cereal

- Special K Bliss Bars (2 flavors)

- Special K Grab ‘n Go Cereal Packs

- Special K Snack Bites

- Special K Strawberry and Honey Oat Snack Bars

Pretty sweet, huh?
So here's what you have to do get an entry to win the gift basket: Share your plan to fight the frump in the comments section of this post.

For another entry, create a wishlist of at Wishpot with at least five items that you would use to fight the frump like your favorite lipstick, an outfit you would get if you reach your fight the frump goal, a swimsuit you hope to wear this summer.  Link to your wishlist from Wishpot in the comments section as well.

Want another extra entry?  Blog about your plan to fight the frump and link back to this post.

I will determine a winner the weekend of December 27. Congrats to The Sparrow Media for winning!

Let's bring a little glam with us into the New Year, shall we?

My baby is now 8.5 months old and I am sincerely overweight. I plan on working out on a regular basis and to start eating healthy again. I plan on looking fabulous!

The last baby I'll ever give birth to just turned a year old. It's time to really put myself first and take care of my body - inside and out! The neighborhood I just moved to is PERFECT for walking every street and perhaps getting up to running status by the beginning of the summer. I really need to track down something that will help shape my belly. I had two csections and have a lot of extra skin that I'd love to figure out how to tone back up. Even then, my short term goal will be to get rid of the muffin top that I've gained by refusing to buy a size larger in pants because I'm determined to downsize and not upsize.

I've also definitely fallen into the mom clothes. I was just telling a friend the other day that I own two pairs of jeans and one of those has a hole in the knee. My shirt wardrobe consists of a few longsleeve henleys that I wear under my tshirts. That's what I look like on a daily basis. We just gave away every article of clothing we owned to people who need clothes when we moved in October, but really that stuff wasn't much different. I'm not only ready to get my body back in shape, but I would love getting my wardrobe in shape.

I think I may even take a few makeup classes. My mom never really taught me and I'm sure I don't do it all right. Raising three girls, I'd love to be able to show them the "right" way when they're older.

The Special K basket sounds great. I tried the Special K diet last year. I'd love some free stuff to get me back on the bandwagon!

Seeing as how I have the Jillian Michael's 30 day shred dvd also, I think it only right that I jump into this challenge. I'm not looking forward to that dvd though. I'm definitely an exerciser by way of dvd's but that one scares me. Along with this re-commitment to exercise, I am going to get dressed in something that makes me feel pretty every single day, instead of just wearing sweats on days I stay home and I'm going to make sure I'm wearing makeup every day!

I totally need to fight the frump! I'm going to plan on no more eating snacks after 8pm and exercise once a week (which would be a big step for me...)

Oh girlfriend, I am SO with ya on this one! I've set a goal to do (another) half marathon this summer. Even bought some new shoes (since my others were well worn out), and recruited some girls to do it with me. Yahoo! Here's to a more fit + frump free year! :)
