Ford Flex: Top Ten Reasons Why This Chief Mom Officer Wants One

So last week I blogged about looking for a car fit for a Chief Mom Officer and listed all my must-haves/have nots.  Not surprisingly, a few car companies reached out and pitched their ideas for me.  My favorite so far?  The Ford Flex.  I had never seen nor heard of this car until after last week's post and now I can't get enough of it.  The Ford Flex has a ton of practical features for a busy mom that works virtually out of her MacBook and Blackberry.  It's also family-friendly to boot!  Sure, some might argue a minivan fits that bill too, but, and I mean no offense, a minivan doesn't help stoke the fires of my glory days 20's when I felt hip and cool.  On days when I've got a million things to get done and an hour to do them and my son wants me to sing with him all at the same time?  I'd love it if my car could reflect my cool factor even if my frazzled, head-spinning, over-caffeinated self can't through the thrown together outfit and hat-hair I often sporting around town.  The Ford Flex does this in what I like to call its retro-modern styling and uber attention to detail.  It doesn't hurt that the Ford Flex website is up to snuff in the social media savviness department either.

Without further ado, I present the Top Ten Reason Why I Want a Flex:
2009 Ford Flex
Did I mention that it looks cool? Reminds me of old school Land Rovers and Woodys.

2009 Ford Flex - Detail
Lots of seating options...we have one child so our needs would be different from another family with a larger brood.

2009 Flex console
Hello! Built-in fridge that converts to a freezer? Trips to the beach and waiting for preschool to let out just got enjoyable!

2009 Ford Flex
Check out the vista sunroof...now when my son daydreams while I drive, the sky really is the limit!

2009 Ford Flex - Detail
Talk about Chief Mom Officer control room! A place to hold my coffee and the middle console within easy reach.

2009 Ford F-150 FX4
EasyFuel Capless (yes Capless!) Fuel Filler system. With business and motherhood on the mind it's easy to forget to do the little things like put the gas cap back on (been there, done that!). Not anymore!

SIRIUS technology
With the Sirius technology, the Ford Flex is seriously cool and my husband would love the sports features.

2009 Ford Flex - Fashion
The Ford Flex is fashion forward too. Designer Anthony Prozzi (use to design for DKNY) had his hand in the interior design. Base model comes with houndstooth fabric. So chic!

Flex Aerodynamics
With its aerodynamic design, the Ford Flex gets much better fuel economy than competitors in its class with 24/17 mpg.

The Ford Flex gets ME. I'm technology and social media obsessed and need to feel connected at all times. Their entire website is designed for people like me with their use of video, tags, flickr, and virtual features. The Ford Flex also provides the Sync technology so I can make hands-free, safe phone calls.

I haven't taken one for a test drive yet, but in the meantime, I can't keep away from the Ford Flex website. Would love to know what you think!

Hmmm OK I've been to the site and looked around at the new Flex. I finally saw a commercial for it last night after reading your post. I don't see anything on the commercial or Ford's site that tells me this is the car for a family of 6. We do girl scouts, football, softball, and we are rural so we drive... a lot.

Everywhere.

What that means is that when I set a day to do errands, I do it all and by the end of the day, my minivan (there's no shame folks. I've been catcalled in the minivan - WHILE PREGNANT LOL) is loaded down. I do everything from making trips to Goodwill, getting 16 gallons of drinking water (or more) the grocery store... you get the idea, I need something that has enough storage room for all of that and unless I missed something, I don't see it with the Flex. It's sporty, it's elegantly designed but I don't think it's practical for us (which was what I thought in my first comment but now I'm sure). A family of 4 or 5? Maybe, but not us "big families".

This car is super cute and the fridge is a definite plus! I have two kids now and am looking for a bigger car. But I do need a navigation system, IPOD compatibility, and hands free talking. This vehicle seems to have it all. Maybe I will test it out!

Thanks Jessica!

Whoa, I've seen this on the lot on my drive to work and thought 'kinda quirky'. It's pretty cool.

[...] big thanks to Jessica for the terrific overview of the new Ford Flex, a car that looks built for  work @ home [...]

WOW! Looks great!! I am a huge fan of Ford! I have an F-250 and My wife drives a Ford Edge.....This Flex looks like it will be her next car as it looks more comfy for the kids!

Good Job Jessica on this post!

Ok, saw a commercial for this last night and thought of you. I watched it, which is a big deal because I usually fast forward through all commercials, and now I'm drooling every time I think of it. The "hip mama" market has been dying for a car like this one, and I'm so excited to finally see a slick and stylish car that still has function and space for a larger family!

Can't wait to drive one...

I spent an hour looking at one today and will drive one all day tomorrow. I have emailed will speak to HealthyCar.org about the eco toxin issue that I'm researching. I will also be writing a long lengthy post about just how "green" Ford is. I'll be using my Flip Camera to video some stuff from a moms point of you as well. I'd love to be in touch with Wes the head PR guy for safety. I have some ????

Umm I'm sorry bu there is no such thing as a safe phone conversation in a car, unless you are a passenger. I nearly lost my family to a safe phone call someone else was making.

After this post, I totally get why you want one of these. What an awesome vehicle!
