Day 5 of 15 Days of Work/Life Balance: Time to Get Moving

I love what I do for a living.  Essentially I get paid to network, form partnerships, create buzz, make connections, and put ideas into action.

It's freakin' amazing!

So much of it though is done on my lap top.  And well, let's just say that if I'm typing...I'm not really moving other parts of my body that I should.  Honestly, if I wasn't on my laptop, one could call me a couch potato and well, I'd have to agree with them!  I'm convinced that if I added more exercise to my daily routine, it would positively effect my work/life balance almost instantly.

Add to the mix that it's also really cold outside and there's not a whole lot of incentive to get moving outside either.

But this, my friends is going to change.

When EA Sports contacted me about working with them on the launch of their new fitness game for the Wii called Active by participating in the EA Sports Active 30 Day Challenge?  I didn't hesitate for one second.  I need something like this.  And I'm uber competitive so I hear the word "challenge" and my ears perk up!

So I said yes, assuming they'd send me a copy of the game and I'd start vlogging about it, and was beyond stoked.  Then they emailed me to let me know that they plan to fly the other selected bloggers and myself out to Santa Barbara to kick off the challenge with a...wait for it...SPA RETREAT WEEKEND!  Umm...hello!?  I was happy to get an advance copy of the Wii game and now THIS?

Holy Moly!

If you already clicked on the link to the EA Sports Active site you'll see that it's based on what personal trainer, Bob Greene, teaches his clients.  Oh, and by the way, one of his clients you might know.  Yeah.  Her name starts with an O and ends with an H?

And in case you're wondering who the other bloggers embarking on this challenge with are, I'm excited to share that I'll be in great company with Jennifer of Mom Bloggers Club, Julie from Cool Mom Guide & Wii Fit Mommies, Monica from Mommy Brain Reports, Donald from Dads Center, and Renee from Cutie Booty Cakes!

So, what am I hoping?  That you all will embark on some kind of fitness plan of your own.  Whether it's dancing and playing air guitar to Poison or playing Duck Duck Goose with your kids.  And I hope you'll join me in holding each other accountable, cheering each other on as we share our progress on Twitter, Facebook, and on our blogs.

I think we must be a lot alike. After the birth of my son in September I got out of the habit of working out regularly. So to make sure I got off the couch and out of the "lazy funk", I sent out a HARO request for postpartum fitness products.

:-) Now I HAVE to get off the couch and try out these fitness dvd's just to review them. *laughing* Excuses over for both of us, eh?

I can't wait for our spa retreat and the Challenge. I have been using My Fitness Coach for the Wii and don't own the Wii fit. I am sure that that EASports Active is really going to keep us moving and I am ready to try it out! Of course it will great seeing you again. Spa, friends, and exercise - I don't think it gets any better than that!

Congratulations Jessica and Renee!!! (the two folks I know!).
I am so excited for you!

Like everyone else, I'm struggling with weight loss as well and this cold weather is not helping matters! (we have a Wii but not a Wii fit so that's out, too!). Being a food blogger is not the easiest line of work for losing weight and having a photo shoot coming up in about three weeks for my first magazine appearance is actually just getting me more stressed and depressed about it (but look, I'm still smiling! see? ~grins really big~ Coz thats what we do under pressure!).

I will be sure to follow you both on this journey and hope you have a ton of FUN along the way!!

Now I just need some sunshine and weather about ten degrees warmer.....

I'm ready for the challenge! I was way more active when we lived in S. CA and since we moved to MI I've turned into a couch potatoe dreading the cold outdoors...even to head to the gym sounds frightfully cold!
