Social Media Marketing Starts with Social Spark & Fires Up Kmart Buzz
If you were on Twitter during the holiday season I'm going to guess you saw the buzz about Kmart's social media marketing campaign orchestrated by Social Spark and executed by top bloggers.
What do I mean by top bloggers? Let's see...Chris Brogan, Wendy Piersall, and Julia Roy to mention just a few.
While there was some controversy over the bloggers doing paid posts the end result was huge. As in huge success, huge buzz, and a huge return on investment for KMart.
As the big brick and mortar companies are considering social media, they're scared. They're scared of not being able to measure their results, they're scared of losing control of their message, and they're scared of the unknown.
However, Ted Murphy the mind behind Izea has, in no uncertain terms, quantified the results. He's also shown that while, yes, Kmart lost control of their own message, the conversations that resulted had an overall positive effect on Kmart's bottom line. And how. By engaging big names and empowering bloggers everywhere, Social Spark and Kmart not only got people talking, but they incited people to take action.
And when I say action, I mean SHOPPING. And sharing their experience afterwards. Resulting in more shopping.
Check out this Social Media Case Study that outlines clearly how Social Spark's Kmart campaign became the success story people are still talking about.
