Are you an Intellectual Optimist?
I'd like to think I am. Or at least aspiring to be one.Everywhere I turn it seems like people are talking about the negative. Truth be told, our world is not experiencing the best of times right now. I know this. You know this.
However, it would be nice to hear more about what people are doing right, what they're doing to inspire and heal one another, and get some positive vibes going.
Paul Smith, @GreenSmith on Twitter, introduced me to the magazine Ode recently. It's unlike any magazine I've seen before and it's written for, in their words, the Intellectual Optimist.
So what's in the magazine?
- Business - Entrepreneurs and businesses doing well by doing good
- Energy - Exploring how the balance of power is shifting in the energy sector
- News - Good, not bad; solutions, not problems
- Health & Science - Alternative methods to help and to heal
- Life - Real stories about people making real changes
- Spirit - Spirituality in our daily minds and our daily lives
- Marketplace - Products that make a difference
- Ode to Possibilities - New, inspiring ways to solve problems
With my vow to disengage with the negative recently and surround myself with more positivity, Paul's introduction to this magazine is pretty timely, eh?
They've also got three columnists giving you something to think about, be inspired by, and take action, in your life, your community, and your heart, including:
Paolo Coelho, bestselling Brazilian author of The Alchemist
Amy Domini, an innovator and expert on sustainable and ethical investing.
David Servan-Shreiber, French author and psychiatrist
To me, it was a no-brainer to take Paul up on the amazing offer he's arranged for me and my readers (you!). I signed up for my free issue and when I subscribe at the special price of $19.95 ($10 off regular price) I get a tree planted in my name and a Thich Nhat Hanh mediation CD to sweeten the deal. Want in on this too? Use this link to get your free no strings attached trial issue too.
Other great reasons Ode is worth checking out (as if I didn't give you enough already):
Discover related content online through Ode's Exchange where other like-minded people can submit their own content or content they've found that they want to share. And each month Ode picks one to feature in the magazine.
There's also the People section designed to help readers to find, share, and interact with one another.
If you do decide to take advantage of the free trial issue, let me know, I'd love to compare notes!
